Royal Title Awards for citizens

In addition to providing traditional title for non-relatives, the Ngayogyakarta Sultanate also gives an award to community members as an appreciation of their achievements in their respective fields for the Ngayogyakarta Sultanate. For example, an expert Keris maker Ki Empu Djeno Harum Brodjo has received an award plaque for his achievements in preserving the national culture through creativity and creation with his expertise and ways as the ways of ancient masters in conducting an innovative tool. Ki Empu Djeno Brodjo Harum made hundreds various types of Keris based on the orders inside or outside the state. His achievement was regarded as an instrumental for the national culture development.

Ki Ledjar Soebroto, The artificer of wayang kancil (a leather puppet of the deer form), has also received an award from the Ngayogyakarta Sultanate for his dedication in contending indigenous heritage through the art of wayang kancil. Ki Ledjar Soebroto has been awarded for his potency in translating local heritage into the art. The award was given directly by Sultan Hamengkubuwono X on June 15 2010 in the residence of vice-regent warehouse, Yogyakarta. Besides both Professor Djeno Harum Brodjo Ki and Ki Ledjar Soebroto, there were also other figures have obtained an award from Ngayogyakarta Sultanate. They are Dr. Baekuni Wahyudi and Mahyudin Al Mudra, SH, MM (from Yogya Semesta), a young puppeteer Ki Ananta Wicaksana, Dr Harnowati (Head of Environment DIY), Prof. Wuryadi Sutomo (Head of Education Council DIY), Prof. Suwarsih Madya (Head of Department of Education, Youth and Sports DIY), and other outstanding figures.
