Public’s Party in Kirab Procession

Yogyakarta, KerajaanNusantara.com - Tens of thousands of people were jostling to see the bridal couple of KPH Yudanegara and GKR Bendara in the procession of Kirab or royal wedding parade on Yogyakarta routed from Kraton – Maliobro – Dalem Kepatihan on (18/10).

Many citizens have been waiting for since the arrival of the bridal couple at 14.00 pm, whereas according to rundown of events, the implementation of parade will begin at 16:00 pm. These citizens come from all over the regions of Yogyakarta, such as from Wates, Gunungkidul, and even from outside the region such as Magelang. Their enthusiasm remained strong despite the weather was hot.

After waiting for so long, finally the entourages of the procession began to appear. The first line was the group of Soldiers Wirobrojo, followed by Bregodo Ketanggung. Behind these soldiers were five horse-drawn carriages, which were Kyai Rata Ijem Cart ridden by the messengers of Ndalem, one of them was GBPH Prabukusuma, followed by Kyai Jong Wiyat Cart which ridden by GKR Bendara and KPH Yudanegara. On the third line was Kyai Rata Biru Cart carrying the bride family, while the next was Landower Cart carrying the groom family, and the final line was Permili Cart carrying the dancers of Bedoyo Manten. Behind those five horse-drawn carriages were six soldiers who are the dancers of Lawuh Ageng.

However, the current parade was packaged in the format of public’s party. At the location in “Monument of Serangan Oemoem 1 Maret” was held a variety of performing traditional arts from various regions in Yogyakarta.

In addition to performing arts, there lined up hundreds of free angkringan (special small shop of food in Yogyakarta) along the road between the Palace until Dalem Kepatihan, which were contributed by some employers as an appreciation for the Great Royal Wedding of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Sultanate.
