Gajah Prawoto Gamelan is one of the treasures owned by Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate in the form of musical instruments. This instrument is now stored in the Mulawarnam Museum, Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

The gamelan was an evidence of the influence of Javanese culture in Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate. Possible influence of Javanese culture began to enter the Sultanate is when the kingdom was ruled by Maharaja Sultan (1370-1420 AD). As written in Salasilah Kutai, Maharaja Sultan and Maharaja Sakti visited to Majapahit Kingdom to learn about customs and administration procedures (Nawawi et.al ., 1992/1993: 139). The influences of Majapahit Kingdom spread to other areas, one of them is when there was relation with Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Sultanate in 1855.
