  • Heirloom Weapons

    Sword of the Sultan One of the Sultanate's heirloom weapons is sword of the Sultan of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate. The sword is also cannot be found in Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate, as it has been stored at the National Museum in Jakarta along with the crown of Sultanate. The sword is made of gold.     Ciwa Necklace Ciwa necklace is a treasure that was found by resident of Kutai Kartanegara in Lipan Lake. The lake is still into the subdistrict of Muara Kaman, Kutai Kartanegara regency. According to the news, there is also found some ancient pottery from China.     Throne of Sultan of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate, which still can be witnessed in the form of two pieces of yellow colored chairs are in wedding contest of Kutai or so-called geta in dark blue.     The Gold Turtle The gold turtle was originally the collection of Kutai Kingdom. However, after the war between Kutai kingdom and Kutai Kartanegara Kingdom in the mid-17th century, then it was owned by Kutai Kartanegara kingdom as the winner of the war. The war occurred when Kutai Kartanegara led by Aji Pangeran Sinom Panji Mendapa ing Martadipura (1605-1635 AD).  The gold turtle is a tribute from the prince of Chinese when it comes to marriage proposal to one of the daughters of the king of Kutai, Aji Bidara Putih. The arrival of the prince and few ships from China to propose the princess finally accepted.   • Musical Instruments

    Gajah Prawoto Gamelan Gajah Prawoto Gamelan is one of the treasures owned by Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate in the form of musical instruments. This instrument is now stored in the Mulawarnam Museum, Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province. The gamelan was an evidence of the influence of Javanese culture in Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate. Possible influence of Javanese culture began to enter the Sultanate is when the kingdom was ruled by Maharaja Sultan (1370-1420 AD). As written in Salasilah Kutai, Maharaja Sultan and Maharaja Sakti visited to Majapahit Kingdom to learn about customs and administration procedures (Nawawi et.al ., 1992/1993: 139). The influences of Majapahit Kingdom spread to other areas, one of them is when there was relation with Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Sultanate in 1855.   • Flag

    The flag of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate has been used since the mid-18th century. The first Sultan who used the flag is Aji Sultan Muhammad Idris (1732-1739 AD) or known as Aji Marhum Muhammad Muslihudin (1739-1782 AD). The flag of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate has yellow base color that matches the color of the greatness of ethnic Malay, contains pictorial tiger as in the symbol of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate, and the crown as the embodiment of  Sultan figure. The flag is hoisted on the pole of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate Royal Palace.  Read more »

  • Ceremonial Apparatus

    The devices which are commonly used in various ceremonies of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate are grouped into one name, namely “Kelambu Kuning". It is a place that used to put a variety of ceremonial equipments belongs to Sultanate. Inside Kelambu Kuning are equipments which are believed to have magical powers. Those are: Raden Galuh Gong or Raja Pati Gong  This gong was found along with Aji Putri Karang inside it. She was the Queen of Raja Batara Agung Dewa Sakti, the first King of Kutai Kingdom. There inside gong was also found Kris Bukit Kang and one chicken egg. Raden Galuh Gong is also known as Raja Pati Gong.
