Ceremonial Apparatus

The devices which are commonly used in various ceremonies of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate are grouped into one name, namely “Kelambu Kuning". It is a place that used to put a variety of ceremonial equipments belongs to Sultanate. Inside Kelambu Kuning are equipments which are believed to have magical powers. Those are:

  1. Raden Galuh Gong or Raja Pati Gong 

    This gong was found along with Aji Putri Karang inside it. She was the Queen of Raja Batara Agung Dewa Sakti, the first King of Kutai Kingdom. There inside gong was also found Kris Bukit Kang and one chicken egg. Raden Galuh Gong is also known as Raja Pati Gong.

    This gong was found inside a yellow bamboo hall above the horns of an animal that appeared in the waters of Kutai. The animal was later known as Cattle Suana, the symbol of Kutai regency.
  2. Siti Berawan Shield

    Known as Keliau (shield) Aji Siti Berawan, this was always used by Aji Siti Berawan. She is a relative of Kutai Sultanate. Her role in the battlefield up this day is still remembered as the heroine of Kutai Kartanegara. In every war, Aji Siti Berawan always equips herself with the saber that is called Mandau Piatu.

  4. Tajau (jar or Molo)

    This Tajau is where the water used for Aji Batara Dewa Sakti first time bathing as the King. Batara Sakti Dewa Aji is the first King of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate.

  8. Iron crotch

    Iron crotch was found by an official of Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate in Bengkalang River, Long Iram District, West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province. He inadvertently discovered the Iron crotch after tracking the sound of baby crying. Finally, after looking for the place where the sound came from, he found a baby who was crying and was in a place called “Kelangkang Besi” or an Iron crotch .

  10. Sangkoh Piatu

    An heirloom gun in javelin form. Together with Ropes Juwita and Cinde, Sangkoh Orphanage Erau used as a ceremonial device.

  11. Perapen
  12. Arrow of God.

Those various ceremonies equipments are now stored in Museum, St. Diponegoro, Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.
