    Istana Nurul Iman The “Istana Nurul Iman” has a meaning of "Palace of the Light of Faith". The palace was built in 1980 and completed in 1984 serves the seat of the Brunei government and the official residence of the 29th Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah. This world's largest palace according to Guinness World Records is located in Lumadin Hill, Tutong Street, on the banks of the Brunei River, few miles south of Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei's capital. The Istana Nurul Iman’s size is 2,152,782 square feet (200,000 m²) of floorspace. For the comparison of the size to other palaces are Royal Palace of Madrid: 1,453,122 square feet (134,999 m2), Buckingham Palace: 828,818 square feet (77,000 m2), and The Palace of Versailles: 721,206 square feet (67,002 m2).
